My vet's office is running a "special". $99.00 dental. If you want an IV, it is an additional 45 dollars. They are really promoting good dental hygiene! So both of my baby boys (they are a year and a half old) went in. Beautiful clean white teeth now! (They were only a grade one)
I tried the Tropiclean religiously for a month prior to the cleaning, because it was supposed to dissolve the plaque. Did not work! So I've recently switched to Biotene. Results to be determined.
Anyway, my best advice is to put their toothbrush and toothpaste in your bathroom. At night, when you brush your teeth-brush theirs. I love it!
