This isn't about who is at fault, but the groomer is responsible for everything that happens to your pet while in their care.
The groomer/salon is most definitely at fault for allowing the dog to be put with a male while in heat. She was told first.. However, the most one is going to get is an "I'm sorry"...
I am not sure I would take my dogs to a groomer that put all the dogs together. they shouldn't be, unless it is a doggy daycare..
And anything can happen to any breed when whelping. There really is nothing so different for yorkies. All puppies can crash, all moms may not be able to whelp easily either, Not just yorkies..
It sounds like you are doing a great job so far with such a surprise. You have been doing lots of research and that is great. The whelper helpers you have coming is good, it doesn't matter if they are yorkie breeders or not. Just having them there will calm you, and it's better then nobody at all
I hope you will come back and update us after the puppies are born. |

As for the groomer being at fault, I will continue to have to beg to differ with you. Any owner who has an intact male or female is ultimately responsible for the dog's reproductive life. It's an easy fix, if you don't want to breed (responsibly) then spay/neuter. If you do plan on breeding, then you don't take that dog any where that an unplanned breeding can occur. There is no such thing as an "accident", there is only failure to plan properly. Ultimately, it was the owner's decision to leave the dog while she was in heat with someone else. I don't think it's reasonable to assume that someone else will watch the dog as closely as you do.
