I prefer to use a harness only for walks, with a collar for id as previously mentioned. But sometimes, Charlee does wear a harness all day...mostly when I leave her with my elderly father...he finds the small clips on the harness to be difficult to manipulate, so I put the harness on in the morning, and then take it off when I get home in the evening. Then it isn't as difficult for him to take her out for a walk during the day. Her coat is silky and long, but I haven't had any real matting issues, this year, I'm looking forward to using her new silk harness by Chattiesmom. I think that will work even better when I have to leave it on her all day
