You don't say how old your dog is. If the dog is very young it would have to be separation anxiety which usually goes away over time, but probably not soon enough for now. Any way you can get one of those carry bags for small dogs that go over your shoulder and just bring the dog with you?

Without knowing how old the dog is this will be hard to diagnose, but you might try one of those ultrasonic antibark things. The one I'm talking about is like a box with a mic and a speaker and you just put it near the dog, not on the dog. A bark will set off the device which makes a sound most dogs don't like. Make sure you can return it, because I've tried two of these now on two dogs and they didn't work for me. That said, many people swear by them.
