Thanks everyone. Ugh....so disappointing...but no matter what I will make sure he gets the best care and treatment possible. The rest I will leave in God's capable hands.
When they examined him they said it seemed a tiny bit swollen....she said you would only notice the difference if you knew he had an injury there. Then he had x rays....the growth plate has moved quite a bit. It was obvious to my inexperienced eyes. She said that it just sometimes happens.
The surgery they will do is a bit different. His little bones are too small for pins, so they will use a suture secured to the muscle above the injury, and pull it down and attach it to a hole drilled in the bone, this will hold the growth plate in it's proper place. The sutures will be permanant unless they become infected. I may not be describing this perfectly, but that is the gist of it.
Crate rest after the surgery for a grown dog is 6-8 weeks...she said it might go quicker since he is a growing puppy.
I feel so bad. What a stupid mistake I made setting him on that chair. I feel like I am robbing him of his puppyhood. The next two days are going to be tough....thanks for being there for me and letting me share.
