Of course, they have some concept of time. Otherwise, my first yorkie would not have known what time in the evening to go into the living room to look for me. My present yorkie goes to work with me and knows it is time to go home. They know when it is meal time. They know when it is time to go to bed.
I'm sure your little one will be ok. They just have trouble with changes.
