The pad is easier especially in the winter. It is freezing and Desi won't stay outside to do her business, especially when the yard is full of snow and she sinks in it. Also, where I live there are no fences in the front of the homes and Desi becomes too easily distracted, I don't want her running into to the street because she sees a chipmunk or something..
