We have the breeders name and number so I will contact them first if this is something we decide to do. The only thing that tips me off that the breeder might not be reputable is that they let Iggy go at 6 weeks. He weighs 3 pounds now and I cannot imagine letting a puppy go home with a family at that size and age. I think there can be many dogs with good lines that end up in rescues and I don't think just because they ended up there means anything negative about them. Also, I would like to think that families that purchase Yorkies would contact the breeder and offer the dog back but though this family was very nice I cannot say that they knew much about Yorkies or dogs in general. |
I'm glad that you clarified the rescue part of your question. My very first thought was rescue and not nuetered

Since he was a rehome this makes things a little more clear. I don't believe I read any of the breeders bring up this point so I guess I will try to toss it out there. If he is a rehome, even though you have his papers available you really don't know all of the true genetic history in his lines. Even if he seems healthy there is still a possiblity that there are genetic issues in his background. I believe this is called recessive genes which can come out without even knowing. Personally, I would not take a chance on breeding him even once. Even if you contacted his breeder and discussed with her there really is no way to make sure what you are told is 100% factual. You would not know what type of puppies your little guy would produce and you might not get what you were expecting~even though he's a cutie there is no guarantee his puppies will be as cute. I just can't see the benefit of chancing all of the possibilities and uncertainty you would face all for having a puppy. You would be much better choosing a reputable breeder and outright purchasing a puppy.
