Do you mind me asking how he ended up being a rescue? I thought true rescue dogs were neutered before going to their new homes. Do you know if he has ever been used for breeding? At his age if he has never been used for breeding then it probably would not be a wise thing to start. If he isn't marking everything already then he might start marking. Also, some males are just not interested in breeding if they have been pets all their life. Most people looking for a stud dog want to use one that is proven and experienced.
