The average age to spay and neuter is 4 to 6 months. But if your puppy is very small, it is best to wait to 6 months. My yorkie was neutered at 4 months old and did great. He was up and running the same night, like he didnt even know it happened. Thankfully i work at the vet clinic, so i can take them to work with me, so i can watch them. But as long as you have a healthy puppy and it isnt too tiny, 4 months is safe. ALot of shelters do it very early, because they want them to be fixed before they leave the shelter. But unless it is a large breed we usually suggest the 4 to 6 months. ANd just a little info for those who dont want them to start marking. Mine were all done by 4 months, and 2 of them still mark. SO alot of that is just in their personality. |
