
I agree. I think now she associates the syringe as the awful tasting medicine so she's going to put up a fight no matter what is in it. What I did once is put diluted pumpkin (very watered down) and gave it to Bailey so he didn't associate it as something awful.

I am glad you got the other med. My suggestion is to get her to relax in your arms...don't let her see the syringe. Keep your hand sort of behind her. Then, give her a treat....right after that, just quickly bring the syringe up from down below and behind and put it in the far corner of her mouth and inject it quickly before she realizes it. Once you can do that a couple of times she will realize that you are not giving her that other med and she might relax and take the new med. Good luck with it!
Also, you could just soak a tiny piece of crumb cake with the medicine and maybe that way she will eat that and get all of the medicine.
That medicine can be mixed in Pet Tinic and dogs will take it that way. You might ask if that can be done....although some vets don't like that because they feel the dosage gets messed up in that. |
