Animal Smiley 019 Wee silly question...

Missy has just had her 3rd, and what will likely be her last, litter... Of 7! She had the 1st 4 within 1hr 15mins, then had a rest for 1 1/2 hrs, then the last ones about 30-40 mins apart... But I could have sworn I could feel another- breech (sideways). It was still before our regular vets opening times and she wasn't in the danger time, so I did what I had been told to do and gently pushed it round a little. Then 5mins later it was gone- literally gone. I panicked thinking it had went back to the top of her uterus, contractions had stopped, and she was spent... So just incase of to the vets we went. By this time my own vets was open and saw us immediately. She did a physical and an ultrasound, and there was no puppy or retained placentas, but her uterus and pelvic cavity (?) was inflamed and her bladder quite enlarged- so it was probably a combination of those that I had felt- good job I didn't push on her hard!
She was given an anti infamitory injection and a weeks course of antibiotic to control the swelling and any pain etc. (all perfectly suitable for nursing bitches) and is now happy as can be curled up with her wee bundles!
So, after that long winded explanation, my question is: is that type of inflammation at all common for such a big litter, or did she just get unlucky?

And sorry in advance for any sp.- I'm on my phone not pc and have been up since 4, after 3hrs sleep!
