you can google it. zyrtec sounds good but its expensive i have allergies myself and zyrtec is like gold to me. benadryl or pharmacy or generic brand benadryl is is cheaper and very effective.
a lot of vets suggest benadryl. i havent heard the zyrtec one yet. |
Are you saying you give her the whole 25mg 3x a day? Her dose for her weight would not be 25mg at a time. Maybe it's just the way you wrote it...but just thought I'd say something.
Also, for Benadryl to really be effective - it has to be given every 4-6 hours. It sounds like you're giving it before bedtime, and then again in the morning - if I'm reading this correct. Giving it 2x day means she is metabolizing the benadryl out of her system (before she gets another dose), and she won't maintain a therapeutic level. Benadryl's half-life can be as short as 2.5 hours (!) - so it really should be given to accommodate it's fast rate of elimination.
Generic zyrtec isn't bad in price at all -- esp. bc you only need 1/4th a pill - and it's a 24 hour pill. It's more expensive than Benadryl, for sure, but not too bad in small dog-doses.
