Harley is a night owl, always has been. He has his own room, he usually goes to bed between 10 and 12pm. He gets up whenever the first one of us is up, sometimes it's 7am and sometimes it's 10am. We're both students so he sleeps during the day when we're gone.
But as soon as I put him in his room and turn off the lights he goes and eats his kibble .

personally I've learned from experience with my horses that while consistency is nice, I hate it when animals have a "schedule", I'd go out to the barn to ride a horse at 6pm and they'd all get angry and start banging on the walls that they wanted supper.
So I try to make it the same for Harley, I want him to not beg for his food or bed time, etc, or put up a fuss if I'm early. He has good manners, and it also helps cause we travel a lot with him, so it means his schedule doesn't flip around so much when we're on the road.
