You would never want to give Nutri-cal to a new born pup but it is okay to give them just one drop of the Nutri-drops.
I highly recommend keeping the Oral-Cal Plus on hand. I have to admit I have never used the Oral Cal Plus since it came out but I always kept regular Oral-cal on hand but I would not use it during delivery. Before I have another litter I will be ordering the Oral Cal Plus, it sounds much better than regular Oral Cal.
Also, I have never had to use whelping pudding so I can't comment on that. |
Barb,
My repro vet informed me that NutriDrops work as Oxytocin......Absorbs via the gums much faster....I always rub a drop or two into the pups gums prior to putting them with mom.
NutriCal has a high content of sugar and giving it a whelping mother can cause her to crash....
Oral Cal Plus does not make them vomit as Calsorb does.....the malt flavor making it more palatable, although the same.....well the price on Oral Cal Plus is a bit more expensive.
