Roxy and I have this routine too. I work from home at a desk and move around way too much for her to be in my lap so she prefers to be by my feet in her little bed. She won't even get on my bed which is just right behind us. Rox follows me everywhere too but has learned when I am just going to the bathroom and doesn't always follow (If I don't look at her, she is less likely to follow) unless I get out of her line of sight, then she is compelled to come find me. The only time she ever sits in my lap is when we're on the couch watching TV, she loves to watch TV! I do feel bad when I have to get up to get something but I'll usually just carry her with me to where ever I'm going and set her right back down on my lap when we get back to the couch, she will adjust herself to the comfy spot and it's like I never even got up.
