I don't if this is helpful, but I started shaving (with a trimmer) my pups ears at about 3 weeks. They were pretty hairy and two of them had "big" ears (IMO). One pup's ears stood right away, the other two (with the bigger ears) needed some help. I think I started taping at about 4 weeks of the two with big ears. One of those only needed taped a couple times and they stood, the other had to be taped off & on for a good month before they stood.
I still shave everyone's ears once a week. They've come to expect it. I say, "come get your ears shaved" and they all come running and line up. Kinda funny.
