Annie was about 7 weeks old when we found her - her ears, eyes and mouth were full of maggots, which indicates that her mother hadn't been around in a while. We figured that she and her sibling strayed from home and got lost which isn't uncommon for young 'coons. She wasn't eating solids when we she came to live with us, so I had to make up a formula of puppy milk replacer, baby rice, and banana. Annie LOVES her daily banana!!!
Ummm we weren't able to "vet" her because you aren't supposed to rescue raccoons - but I just couldn't let her die.
