Hi Sophie, I am right there with you and can totally commiserate!
Hudson is about 9 months, almost 10 and is having similar problems. Granted, I only got him a few weeks ago, so I'm re-training him in way that is different to how the breeder had him. Essentially Hudson is fine during the day and around the house. If I ever leave the house for a short period of time (3 hrs max) I crate him also. However, he has been having more and more accidents (poo and pee) inside his crate not sure why!! At his age he SHOULD ideally be able to hold it.
One thing I would suggest is that you have to be extremely diligent about keeping the crate clean. You have to know if your baby has soiled in her crate overnight b/c that may signal that she can't hold it that long. If you aren't sure, check the crate and the pads/blankets carefully before letting her go back in. If there's even a small scent of their pee/poo, they may want to continue to eliminate there. Everyone speaks very highly of the cleaner brand Nature's Miracle which can be found at most pet stores.
Hmm, are you also getting her enough exercise during the day before she's crated at night. I know exercise gets the bowels moving.
Good luck, keep us update and thank you for sharing your story. You're not the only one with these challenges! Feel free to PM me if you want to swap more tips. |
