What confuses me is that when my dogs were puppies and had their vaccines, the vet said the rabies shot is only good for one year, then you have to get them the next year , and it is good for three years. Their are different tpyes of rabies shots? it did not make sense to me. | I wondered and asked the vet myself because she told me the shot is the same, but it is required once a year until the pup is a year old and then it is required every three years-the shot itself is a three year vaccine, but many states, counties, cities require it yearly anyways... I live in an area that had a very serious rabies outbreak in the last couple years and we still only require it every three years-even through the public debates Dr.'s and Vet's were asked for input to see if the law should be modified and here it was determined a three year vaccine is more than sufficient and thus there was no reason to require a one year issuance and amendment to the law. |
