Default Calvin's 6 month liver shunt surgery update

So Calvin had his 6 month BATs follow-up on Monday. I spoke with my vet last night (& this morning b/c I always think of things after I hang up) and he told me that Calvin's BATs are still elevated. He said that it could be one of two things...first is that his major shunt hasnt completely closed (although he thinks that is unlikely) or that he has micro vascular shunts (which he says isnt uncommon). So he wants me to keep him on the L/D and the lactulose and retest him in a year. He says that he will lead a normal life and should do fine with the L/D and lactulose. He has gained over a pound and a half since his surgery and he looks great. His fur is nice and shiny, etc. I guess I was just hoping that after the surgery and the shunt was repaired that he would be just fine. I know technically he is fine, but its just something we will have to monitor.

Thanks.
