UPDATE - Friday, March 18th, 2011: Thank you so much for all of your support and your diligence in seeking justice for Buckley, and working to ensure something like this doesn't happen again in our community.
Most of you already know the meter reader who kicked Buckley was fired by LUS. We can also report that this case will be filed with the Lafayette District Attorney's office as soon as Monday of next week (March 21). Additionally, the case of the inappropriate comments made by the police officer during the interview with the dog owners is also being addressed. Finally, the staffing firm that employed the meter reader has offered to pay the costs of Buckley's surgery and other expenses, and has also been in direct contact with the family since the incident.
Today we spoke to Lafayette's City-Parish President Joey Durel and the Lafayette Chief of Police, Jim Craft. Both men were very gracious and eager to help. Both Joey and Jim have contacted Buckley's family to see how they are doing, to let them know what's going on in this case, and to answer questions and address concerns.
The family now knows much more about what's going on in the case, and is now comfortable the case is on course to a fair resolution.
Stay tuned for the progress of this case, and again THANK YOU!!! You guys are amazing! | Thanks for posting the update
