Default Cider Vinegar question

I have heard that putting cider vinegar in the dogs drinking water will act as a flea repellant.
Is there any truth to this?
I hate having to put chemicals on my furbabies and I haven't seen any fleas in years, but noticed some flea dirt on Beamer's coat today. He was bathed on Wednesday and the groomer didn't see any fleas on him then.

If the cider vinegar works, how much do you put in their drinking water?
Or is there any other safe way to protect against fleas?
