Don't cut the hair on the leg. Learn from my mistake. I was trying to even out the hair on Sophies leg and now she looks like she is on stilts. If you pup has a cottony coat, mats will be an issue, if the silk coat not so much. I find just using a comb works better on my girls. But each dog and owner has to find out what works best for them.
