Regarding your specifics on the type of pup you want ..... I think two out of the three (size and final color) are going to be difficult to guarantee in a 12 week old pup. You never know how the coat will change as they mature, and the size can't be guaranteed, either.

If I can make a suggestion .... why not try and find an older pup? Maybe one that an exhibitor kept as a show prospect, but as they reached 9 to 12 months or so, it became evident that showing and breeding wasn't going to work out for that particular dog.

If a female stays smaller than anticipated, (a four pounder, just like you want), they wouldn't be suitable for a breeding program and therefore there is no point in showing them, either. That type of dog could be available for a new home at a relatively young age (an older pup). At that age, you will have a much better idea of the final size, facial features, coat, etc.

I got my second Yorkie at the age of 9 months, she became available because she was a show "reject." These little "rejects" (I say that lovingly) have already been trained and handled so much to get ready for the ring, they can be so easy to work with. With mine, the second you started to mess with her topknot, she would drop down and lay flat and very still until you finished. Put her on the table at the vet's office, she didn't like that cold steel table, but the second the vet started examining her she would stand perfectly still for the entire exam. And of course, they are already used to being on a leash.
