Neither of mine were very destructive at all, but...

I use some "Training Cords", one two wire Lamp Cord,
and the other is a Coaxial Cable (about 6 ft each).

When I get a new puppy, i lay the cords out on the floor,
they're kinda wadded up, just like they would be behind
a couch or table. Every time the new guy approaches them
he gets a strong NO. Doesn't take long for him to get the
idea, and, this is done at MY leisure, not his !

Other than that, new guys are in a restricted area, where
there are no other cords available, and I pick the cords up
when I'm not trying to train. I do the same thing with shoes.

Make sure you do have proper Chew Toys available, and
praise him when he chooses the right thing to chew.
