I have my 10 lbs dog in crates that a 100 lbs dog can get in...you can use it in a play pen too Steve's post is pretty detailed in description...I say at least twice as long wide as your dog and 1 1/2 X their height, but I'm not an expert I just think personally anything less is too confining...

Then again I used a 6' x 6' play pen (4'x4' is recommended for Yorkies FYI) with the crate in it open door as a bed to get them used to it as a bed area, also a play area, a potty area, then a food area...then potty train...

How are you potty training? Outdoor, indoor, grid, potty patch, potty pad (pee pad) will be needed at least for a bit until bladder control can be obtained...stick to a strict feeding and potty schedule

I looked at your crate size...but I think it has more to do with measurements of dog...height, length than weight so guessing those by weight...but it seems fine can you post a pic?
