Microchips are made of a biocompatible glass. The metals inside are hermetically sealed. There is NO
reputable scientific data even remotely suggesting what this person says is true. There is a heck of a lot more data that proves that dogs who aren't ID'd end up being euthanized in shelters.
Properly implanted chips don't "mysteriously fall out" without a lot of outside assistance. The fact that someone would assist in that would send up a huge red flag to me about using them as a groomer. I would be afraid of what else they might be doing to dogs.
I have a seriously hard time believing that a commercial breeder (puppy mills) would want their dogs chipped or that, if chipped, they wouldn't want the information switched over to the new owner's name. What I do find more likely is that a new owner wouldn't want to pay the $20 transfer fee that most chips charge for changing info. Either that or they had a reason to want to obscure where the dog was obtained from.
