Welcome to YT! We also have a cat but with other dogs around she thinks she is a dog! Everytime she is introduced to a new pet she walkes up to them..sniffs..and swats them with her paw (claws in!). It is just her way. She observes the pup for the first few days..always from above them either on the couch or the computer desk. Eventually I think she realizes they are NOT going away and from then on are best buddies! She even rolls on the floor with them. I was worried she would get too rough, but she, like many adult animals, seems to know she is playing with pups and is real gentle. At night she crawls into the pups bed and sleeps with them...like a Mother. She is a special girl. Take it easy and let your cat decide on when it will accept the new puppy...over the weeks, shower love on your kitty but encourage play with the new pup...they will be buddies..it may just take some time.
(Remember to always supervise the interaction between the Cat and pup until they are used to each other...accidents CAN occur...so never leave them alone together until you are sure they are friends!)
