Default Looking for a good book on nutrition

Hi all, well I'm getting rather frustrated cause I'm hearing a lot of mixed opinions on things. Harley had this upset stomach problem thing going on, and well the vet suggested it was a protein overload cause I give him fish on top of his kibble, but NOW! is only 24%, I've seen some foods at my supplier that are 40% so how did I, feeding just a little salmon, overkill the protein, I doubt it... so now I'm back to square one. I'm trying to figure out what I can and can't feed him, and I would prefer to make his meals cause I believe it's cheaper. Every book I find suggests feeding a premium food like Iams or Eukanuba... that and my vet said that grain free foods have higher protein, but NOW! is one of the lowest protein grain free foods out there.

I'm looking for something that says this is how much protein your dog needs, this is how you calculate whats in stuff you make, he needs this much of this and that. etc.

I am open to any suggestions, I love to read and would really love to find a good book that could help me on this one.
