If you are calm he will be calm.... But it never hurts to bribe them with goodies. Try some chicken bits throughout the car ride and lost of praise when he is calm and seems to be at ease.

I have an appointment with two of mine tomorrow afternoon. They have always done very well but I have gotten a new car and this will be their first time in it. I hope that being in a strange car wil not spook them and that they will be on their best behavior during the 20 min. ride to the vets office.
