I just think its careful to keep everything in perspective and try not to be too paranoid that it effects your dogs quality of life. Dogs love to get out, see new things, smell new things, interact with different people, etc. I am very cautious about my dogs, I never leave them alone in the car, they aren't left outside unattended, I try to keep them in a separate room when random service workers come into my home. However, I still take them to stores with me, take them to the park/ dog park, let them run errands with me, take them for walks around the block. The world can be a scary place but we still have to go out and live in it and so do our dogs.
