No! Just the opposite in my mind...You are doing a great thing! I know this sounds horrid but what if something happened, you had an emergency trip to take, had to go to the hospital for a couple days...NOW is the time to have him do an overnight and continue every once in awhile to get used to it being okay and you bringing him back home...not later when it's an emergency or the real deal...and better your mom's and with other dogs than a kennel boarding situation.

Same as with child IMO. I had mine go to preschool a couple hours three times a week I went with at first, then by themselves, then daily then I went back to work...you are doing things the ideal way IMHO.
