Hi Shelley, I have been helping Sara with her puppies since they were a week old. We had to start them on rice cereal with some of their formula when they were about 23-24 days old since mom was not nursing enough and they were hungry. We were up to 3 extra bottle feedings a day and mom was still nursing. All I did was get some Gerber Baby Rice cereal and mix that with their milk and make it a little thicker than their bottle but not thicker than pudding.....does that make sense?? We did that for 3 days and then slowly added in a spoon of canned puppy food and did that for several feedings and each time would add in just a little more. They are now 5 weeks and they get a little canned food, a little rice, a little formula and now ground up hard kibble. We are almost ready to go with just ground up puppy food and stop putting the rest in since they have adjusted so well. I would try adding some cereal to the milk you are using if you also have to bottle feed. The goat's milk recipe is best but these were already on formula and the vet did not want to change them unless they were having problems since they were digesting it without issues. I started out putting the food down 4 times a day and would show them it all. First few tries only a few would take it but after the 2nd day they all were eating and would run when the plate was put down. LOL Now they are eating about 5 times a day and nursing very little.

These little ones also got out of their area and we had to get an x-pen for them and yes momma only goes in there to nurse which now is not that often. So from what you are saying yours are doing what they are supposed to also.

These ones at 5 weeks weigh between 14 - 21 oz but when we started they were all under 16 oz.

Hope this helps!!
