I use trimmers mostly, sometimes I blend a few snips with the thinning shears, but mostly trimmers. I use scissors to go around her paws sitting flat on the table. I use a nail trimmers to snip the ends off her nails then I smooth them with what looks like a dremmel disk sander. I always keep one main thought....when working up around the head, check over and over to make sure you are holding the ear out of the way. That's my biggest safetly concern.
Hope, this helps...just takes some practice. And most of all, remember...it's only hair, it will grow back. Try it and have some fun with it too.
