| A few questions... ok, so its been a little over a week since i brought Sirius home. he is doing wonderfully- hes had about 2 accidents [which were of course my fault for turning my back for a fraction of a second], his ears have been standing since he came home giving him an uncanny to a bunny rabbit when he runs around my room before bed, he learned to sit within 5 minutes. i am sooo thankful for such a great baby! so enough bragging and onto why im posting this thread- ive introduced him to people, all different kinds like my yorkies for dummies suggested, hes played with children [who are very gentle and aware], hes even played with a german shepard. but he is still so painfully shy! even with me at times. ill call him and he will back up like im going to beat him! i WOULD never EVER hit him or anything of the sort, but he backs up like he is frightened. over the weekend i took him to my sisters house and while it was kinda hectic, he was very loving with the kids, licking them and even going up to a few of them on his own and i was so proud, so id praise him whenever he was being good. but he continues to do the backing up thing. secondly, i want to give him a bath, lol. im suppppper nervous about the whole process- he is my first dog so im not really sure how im supposed to go about it. im absolutely clueless - like water temp? shampoo? how do i wash around his face? what setting should i put the blow dryer on? or should i just take him to the groomer? [im scared to let him go to the groomer until hes had his final round of shots- im just scared he might get something from another dog] i just want to make the whole thing as pleasurable for him as posible so he'll like baths in the future and not be traumatized by me! lol thirdly, training him was AWESOME- the only thing that wsnt so great was after our session, i gave him about 2 treats total [they were big to start off with so i broke them off into small peices] but he had the worst poops! i tried to give him cheerios, but he is pretty uninterested in them other than playing with them and chasing them, which only contributes to his puppy ADD. is there a treat you guys use for training that is easy on their stomachs that they respond well to?
Lastly, he was a little pervert with his chihuahua cousin when she came to visit this weekend! he was humping her and biting her back like a maniac. i thought he had rabies or something! he was being crazy- running around like a mad man. kristy says he was asserting his dominance, but i was just so blown away by his behavior, i had to share it :] thanks to everyone who reads this uber long post and actually replies!
