The vet has said that Addys' legs are like that as a result of a birth defect and that there isn't a surgical option for him. The good news is that Addys is Heartworm Negative - that was a big relief!
Addys' foster mom reports that he's a friendly, loveable, spunky little guy who gets along with all her dogs and is happiest curled up on or next to her. His legs don't seem to slow him down at all. He runs and plays with the best of him. When he runs, he does hold up one front leg and only uses 3.
I've attached pictures of Addys after having his fur shaved off. You can see the deformity in his legs.
Happily, Addys already has a permanent home. One of our board members has adopted several puppy mills dogs when they've been discarded - special needs seniors are her specialty. Addys is still young but her response was 'well then he'll be the youngest special needs dog in the house"! |
