Whelping a litter is serious business. If she's pregnant... you have approximately 9 weeks to prepare yourself. First get her to the vet have a ultra sound performed to insure that she is indeed capable of having these pups naturally. Establish a relationship with your vet and make sure that he is available to you 7x24. You may need him.

Read everything you can about whelping, begin gathering equipment and medical supplies. Make sure that she is being fed the best food possible.

If you work make sure that you can have time off beginning a week before her due date and until those pups are about 12 weeks of age. Yep! you go nowhere....you are tied to the house.

Prepare yourself financially for an emergency (c-sections are approximately anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000). That's dependent on where you live and what time of day they are performed. You will also have to make sure that you have funds alloted for all vet care for the pups .......
