It made my day too!
He has never been in the crate that we have. He kind of likes his x pen and is really used to it. He has piddle pads and his food and water in there too. I have his little blue house in there with a snuggly sack type of bed in it. He likes to go in the house and sleep sometimes. There is also a heated bed in there that he loves. That is where he is sleeping right now.
I am going to start exposing him to the small crate and will see how he does. The surgeon stressed the need to be calm. Not running around, bouncing, freaking out, etc. She said if he doesn't handle the crate well, he would need to get wrapped. It is okay for him to stand and take a few steps but nothing more. As long as he lays down in the x pen, then we can use it instead of the crate. The other thing I will try is making the x pen about half it's current size. That way he is in a restricted rest area that he is comfortable with.
