Brielle was spayed in jan at 10 mos old. I took her to a vet that has 24/7 emergency care. She did stay over night, since they are 24/7 she was not left alone. I picked her up the next day and you would not know she had surgery, I think she enjoyed all the attention.
Jersey Boy was neutered around 6 mos at our regular vet and he did not stay over night, he was out of it for about 24 hours.
I say go with who ever you are most comfortable with.
