I have the Designer One by Viking, too. It's a bit much to handle for a sewing newbie, though. There are a lot of good machines in the Viking line that aren't as complicated.

Tip: I know they run the sewing/quilting expos in So Cal quite a bit. They bring in brand new machines for each expo and sell them at a big discount afterwards. They still come with the full warranty. If you find a model that you like, talk to the sewing centers in Joanne's. They'll help you buy one of the lightly used machines (usually less than 4-8 hours) at a great price.
