Default Introduction

I posted this in your rescue forum but thought I would introduce myself and Addys here as well.

My name's Pam and although I live in Canada, I volunteer with NOLA Labrador Retriever Rescue (New Orleans, LA). I have two dogs of my own, a black lab and a border terrier. I joined your forum because yesterday, the founder of NOLA Lab Rescue came across a tiny dog, who appears to be a Yorkshire Terrier, in need and we had to help.

The dog was found in a crate with a chain around his neck and matted in his fur. There was no food or water with him and next to him was a cardboard box with a dead 7 week old lab puppy in it. She couldn't leave him there or he would die so she loaded him in the car, stopped and got him a halter and leash and convinced her vet to open her doors on a Saturday evening to take him him. During the 2.5 hour ride back to her city and her vet, she fell for his charms. She named him Addys after a town they drove by (but replaced the "i" with a "y").

Addys has either 2 broken legs or 2 deformed legs (both front legs) and may also have a problem with his rear leg. We are praying he doesn't have Heartworm. Tomorrow, he'll get a bath and be groomed. On Tuesday he'll be neutered and x-rayed. Then we'll figure out how to help him and get him ready to find a new home.

Any tips on health issues specific to Yorkshire Terriers that we should ask the vet to check? Also, any suggestions on what we should look for when we are ready to start searching for his new home would be greatly appreciated.
