Thank you so much everyone. This makes me feel so bad because it is 100% preventable. We also have Sophia, a 6 year old Yorkie. I am always reminding the kids to be careful with them, and to follow certain rules for their safety. And then I go and do this. I'm really glad this didn't happen with them though. I'd hate for them to feel this bad.
However, I am using this as a chance for them to learn. My 9 year old was like "mommy, I can't believe you did that!" She wasn't trying to make me feel worse, she was just really shocked. I'm sure my girls will have Yorkies when they grow up, this will really help them learn about being extra careful.
Anyhow, my sweet boy is curled up on me sleeping. He is wrapped in his "Yorkie Haven Rescue" blanket I bought him. It is so warm and cozy.
