We go to an obedience class and have been for 7 weeks now. It has helped a lot. He will "watch me" (30 seconds), "sit", "stay", "down"....we have been working on "loose leash walking", and "heel". I try to take him to places like petsmart where I know there will be other dogs every day. One day he will do great. The next he's just crazy. I don't understand it. Having him sit and watch me while he is freaking out on a dog is impossible. I know he is young though and I'm trying to give him more time. I'm only here in Louisiana while my husband is deployed to have my 2nd baby with my family to help. When he returns we will go back to California. There we have dog parks which are great and really help. Here we have nothing like that. I just would love to be able to walk Bentley and enjoy the walk. Also to have him enjoy the walk. There's no way he could possibly be enjoying it if he is always on guard or worried about other dogs. He is very small so I wonder if it isn't due to lack of confidence. I wish I could just talk to him and tell him its okay and that they won't hurt him. Haha! Never that simple though. Thank u all for ur advice and for letting me know that I'm not the only one. I thought it was just me. It seems every dog we walk by is completly fine with other dogs. So its nice to know that I'm not alone.
