That doesn't sound weird to me...exactly what Elvis does...he pokes with his nose (usually on my nose or just gets close and smells right in my face) and steps back and sits or snuggles and then proceeds to then "bath" me like a cat

As for me getting kisses... we have a little game I call "beaking". I'll lean over and say I'm gonna beak you, and then I gently hold the hair on both sides of his mouth and bump the tip of my nose on his and saying "beak beak beak"... He usually winds up bouncing around after that.. I think he likes it because if I'm sick or he wants to love on me, he walks over and bumps his little nose on me once and then backs up and sits down.
I know it sounds wierd, but he's just so darn cute.
