I put a band on, then another band about an inch above the first band, then fold the hair over (towards the back) until the one band meets the other, then I put a band around the two (I think there are instructions with pictures in the grooming section - which is where I learned how to do it). Then I put the bow in. Beamer's bow stays in just great.
