If he is holding up the leg, it is bothering him, and he may be just very stoic and now showing his signs of pain. Just as with us, pain has varying levels of degree and intensity. If this were my dog, I'd be at the vet to have them check it out, even if they told me he was fine. Better safe than sorry!
