Yeah - the root canal is no big deal for me. I've had 7 of them before. Except for the last one, where I had an abscess so bad come up suddenly that one whole side of my face doubled in size and I ended up with a black eye. The endo drained the abscess and that hurt like he$$. But usually with a canal, the anesthetic shots are the worst part.

My freakout is over the API. They get to the root of the tooth through your gum, not through the surface of the tooth. through the gum! With a sharp object! And with stitches afterward. I made the terrible mistake of googling apicoectomy and saw pictures.

I'm not usually a wimp. I've had my gallbladder, half my thyroid, and one ovary removed ( all the old-fashioned way ) and was just fine. But with this one I'm quickly reverting from wacky old biddy to three year-old. I may even cry at the endo's office, that's how bizarre this is making me feel.

Wonder if a nice double margarita would make things better or worse...
