When it comes to cats and dogs, I have seen it all! I have seen dogs go after some cats, while they will leave others alone, and I have no doubt that a Yorkie can kill a good sized domestic cat. That cat may have been old,or ill, or it may have been de-clawed. The thing is, when dogs go after a cat they know before they attack if they intend to do harm, it is a very different behavior than pounce and play. I have seen dogs live peacefully with family cats in and out doors, then attack and kill a stray or feral cat. If that cat was used to dogs, and not afraid of them, then it is possible he wasn't intimidated by the Yorkie until it was too late. If the Yorkie did kill the cat, then there was something about it that posed a threat to the dog or his territory. Sorry that happened, and I would think that most stray or unfamiliar cats would be in danger around that Yorkie.
