Default Calorie count for my 4 lb pup- from Vet

Thought this might be of interest to some...

Inquiring about the feeding of my 4 lb Yorkiepoo...they told me that at her weight and age ( 4lbs/7months) she should be eating between 220 and 240 K cals. At adulthood ( which is right after spaying?)....199 K cals for 4 lbs.

I looked at the food my puppy was eating...each little container was the equivelent of 90 K cals. For my poodle( 8 yrs old and overweight now due to eating the leftover Yorkiepoo food)...that would translate into SIX (6) containers of food!! We only gave her 2 a day and she is now only eating about 1.5 more than that... and she has gained about 8 lbs. She couldn't possibly eat 6 containers a day?!?!

Confusing, but I'm feeling better about how little my new one is eating for some reason--- could there be MORE calories in the food than they report? This seems likely considering my poodle isn't nearly meeting the amount they advise and she has gained considerable weight. Perhaps my Yorkiepoo, while eating a little is actually eating enough!
